I believe that most people have times in their life when they find it difficult to cope. They might feel out of control and struggle to understand why they feel the way they do. Many suffer the painful experience of anxiety, depression or low self esteem.. Or experience tension or anxiety in the way they relate to other people, either at home, at work or in social settings. They might be confused and uncertain about the meaning of their place in the wider world and how their life will turn out.

These feelings can be related to specific traumatic events in the past. They can be about present circumstances, or they can involve fears about the future. They can be in response to some specific challenges of everyday life. Or they can seem to be for no clear reason at all. As a psychotherapeutic counsellor, I aim to support people as they seek to improve their understanding of themselves and their relationships, as they try to make more sense of their uncomfortable thoughts and feelings, and find a calmer, more positive way of being.
My approach involves the integration of a range of different approaches to psychotherapy which I believe are most effective. My support includes empathy, acceptance of people as they are, and a commitment to helping people explore their thoughts and feelings. I offer a safe and confidential space where people can work towards a better understanding of why they feel the way they do, at a pace that best suits them. I believe that greater understanding and acceptance of one’s self helps us to live the life we chose for ourselves.
What I Do

My main training was in Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counselling at Middlesex University and in Person Centred Counselling at the University of East Anglia (UEA). I continue to undertake professional development and training in new and different approaches to counselling and psychotherapy in line with the requirements of the professional bodies – the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy ( BACP).
My approach to counselling is based on relationships – how people think, feel and behave in relation to other people in their lives as well as how they see themselves in the world in relation to their beliefs, values and their environment. Mostly the work involves conversations and questions that I hope help people to better understand what is going on for them.
I offer counselling to individuals as well as to couples who want to attend counselling together to explore issues in their relationship with each other.
